The Research In STEM Education (RISE) Lab

Welcome to RISE lab at Howard University where we believe that Engineering and Technology are the future! RISE lab is affiliated with the Department of Human Development and Psychoeducational Studies, and our research investigates psychosocial factors that contribute to gender and racial inequities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Recently, we have become more involved in developing innovative, culturally responsive and evidence-based interventions to broaden the participation of women and people of color in STEM. We engage mixed-methods methodologies that are theory and evidence-based to address key questions that have the potential to inform policy decisions pertinent to increasing the representation of traditionally under-represented groups in STEM.
