Congratulations to Dr. Marie Plaisime, firstly, for successfully defending her dissertation, and officially graduating from Howard as a Medical Sociologist.
Dr. Plaisime’s research on racial bias and inter-racial anxiety in patient interactions among residents and medical students has garnered tremendous interest from top tier research institutions like Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and the Mayo Clinic. We are so proud to announce that our RISE alum has accepted a three-year post-doctoral research position at Harvard University where she will continue to build her research program, and participate in similar programs at Harvard to reduce racial inequities in healthcare.
